Chief Fire Officer Boyce is Station Officer Steele’s boss. They both attended the Firefighters’ Academy together and although Steele is a little envious of Boyce’s success, he wouldn’t change places with him for the world. Boyce is curt and officious and a bit star struck and jumped at the chance of putting Fireman Sam forwards to star in a Hollywood Movie being made in Pontypandy, despite the disruption it would cause.
Boyce hasn’t seen action for a long time but that doesn’t stop him from paying surprise visits to the Fire Team, inspecting the equipment, updating them on any new Fire related news from Newtown and berating Station Officer Steele for eating an ice cream on the job. The one time he was required to go out on an emergency (because Steele had hurt his back) Boyce got Jupiter’s platform stuck under a bridge and couldn’t race to a rescue when Sarah got stuck up a tree.
Boyce would love to lure Sam to Newtown, but in his heart, he knows that Sam would never leave his beloved Pontypandy.
