Penny, alongside Sam, is one of the senior fire-fighters in Pontypandy and is great role model for the children in the village. She pilots the seafaring Neptune and drives Venus Two, but her expertise lies under the sea. Penny’s specialist area is scuba diving. Whenever there is an underwater emergency Penny is the first one on the scene. Kitted out in her scuba gear and doing a backwards roll water entry into the waves over the side of Neptune, Penny is in her element. Even the threat of the Pontypandyness Monster or the creaking wreck of a centuries old pirate ship The Pontypandy Pearl, holds no fear for Penny.
Penny is a bold and fearless member of the emergency team. Always wise, forever logical and constantly amused by everyone else’s eccentricities. Penny is particularly amused when things happen to Sam - in an affectionate way of course.
Because of her common sense and practical nature, Penny has always been the maintenance person around the fire station. Elvis has been known to ‘help’ her out but sometimes Elvis’ ‘help’ can be more of a hindrance.
